Hunting.—Our readers are
pretty well acquainted through the STAR
columns with the High Hook Fishing Club and
their success on the water with the line. At
this season of the year, however, it appears
that the aforesaid organization is a good shot
hunting club. Yesterday the club made up a
party consisting of Lieut. Nathaniel Grant, C.
R. Wheelock, and Nathaniel Hallett, of steamer
Bay Queen, all of Providence, Daniel Smith,
of Attleboro', and George Bacon, of Pawtucket,
embarking about half-past seven o'clock in the
morning on one of the steamers of the Ameri-
can Steamboat Company, commanded by Capt.
Rhodes, and made a tour of part of Narragan-
sett Bay, taking in Rumstick Point and Rocky
Point. The game was duck, and at half-past
five o'clock in the afternoon the party reported
in Providence again, with evidence of their
success in an exhibition of thirty-two of as
fine specimens of black duck as our local eye-
sight ever covered. Mr. Smith, of Attleboro,
carries the palm of the day as the best shot,
though it was unanimously granted that Whee-
lock and the Lieutenant fastened well, and
Hallett made a good show for his Bacon. The
entire day was immensely enjoyed and the
fruits of the sport will doubtless continue the
pleasure for some days to come.
