Full Text

Mr. John G. Wooley, who has adopted the profession of a gospel temperance worker, paid Minneapolis a farewell visit and spoke three times upon his favorite topic last Sunday. Mr. Wooley three years ago was a confirmed inebriate, apparently lost forever to any future work of usefulness. He claims to have been redeemed through the agency of Christianity, and left the practice of law to devote his future life to temperance work. He was a brilliant and promising young lawyer in Minneapolis, at one time holding the responsible position of county attorney there.

But alcohol fastened its clutches upon him, ruined his business, and sent him into the world a beggar.

For two years he has been engaged in the gospel temperance work, and next summer he will start on a mission round the world preaching a crusade against alcohol. His friends, and all lovers of the good cause will wish him safety in his long journey, and abundant converts redeemed to temperance and good citizenship as the result of his pilgrimage.
