Full Text
Robert J. Spiegel, formerly of Butte, Montana, was elected to succeed Warren B. Tupper of Los Angeles as chairman of the Board of Governmental Engineers Associated at the annual convention held in San Luis Obispo on April 23rd. San Francisco was selected as the site of the 1950 convention.
Governmental Engineers Associated, founded in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and now expanded throughout California and Oregon, is an organization of publicly employed engineers that have banded together to improve their status economically, technically and socially. Prohibited by law from engaging in union activities, the professional publicly employed engineer has in California and Oregon found this organization of unmeasurable value in obtaining the benefits his education and training entitle him to, but which are so often withheld under the so-called blessing of civil service "security."
Mr. Spiegel was formerly employed by the Bridge Department of the Montana State Highway Commission and is presently employed by the Division of Highways, State of California.
