SOCIETY.
THE public are respectfully informed that the Franklin
Society have made arrangement for a course of public
scientific lectures during the coming winter. The
course will consist of 10 or 12 lectures, and will be given
in Howard's Hall, commencing on Wednesday, Nov. 7th,
and continuing each alternate Wednesday evening until
completed. The committee have the pleasure to announce
the following gentlemen as lecturers in the course:
Sir Wm. R. Hamilton, of Trinity College, Dublin, 2 lectures.
Prof. Jas. F. W. Johnston, F. R. S, &c, Edinburgh, 2
lectures.
Prof. Edward Hitchcock, President Amherst College, 1
lecture.
Prof. Henry D. Rogers, of Pennsylvania Geological Survey,
2 lectures.
J. W. Draper, M. D., Professor of Chemistry, University
of New York, 1 lecture.
Negotiations are pending with others, who will be duly
announced.
Tickets for the course $1 50; tickets admitting a gentleman
and lady, $2 50; evening tickets, 25 cents. Tickets
may be obtained at Gladding & Proud's bookstore, Chapin
& Thurber's and J. Balch & Son's drug stores, and Loland's
music store. Members of the Society will obtain
tickets at Chapin & Thurber's.
