IS "COEXISTANCE"
POSSIBLE?
The Congressional Committee
on Communist Aggression, com-
posed of five Republicans and
four Democrats, returned recent-
ly from Europe where a series of
hearings in London, Munich and
Berlin led to the labeling of
Communism for what it is.
Among the 112 witnesses heard
were Exiled King Michael of Ru-
mania, Col. Grigori Stephano-
vich Burlitski, former top official
in the Russian MVD, high rank-
ing former officials in the gov-
vernments of Estonia, Czechoslo-
vakia, Ukraine, Poland, and
scores of citizen leaders who had
lived under Communism in a
half dozen Iron Curtain coun-
tries, before escaping to the
West.
On the basis of the testimony
given, together with its previous
investigations over a consider-
able period, the Congressional
Committee has just published a
series of clearheaded conclusions
and has addressed an urgent re-
commendation to President Eis-
enhower (House Report 2650).
Highlights of the findings are:
Its True Nature
1. "Life under communism is
one of ruthless and absolute ty-
ranny. The State is god. The dig-
nity and inherent rights of man
have no place under commu-
nism."
2. "Communism is a conspiracy
which utilizes an extensive and
complex international criminal
mechanism. It seeks to destroy
all free nations and to replace
them with a system of Red co-
lonialism."
3. "The leaders of the inter-
national Communist conspiracy
regard the United States as the
main roadblock to their plan for
world conquest."
"Communism is able to
maintain control over the people
it enslaves only by the exercise
of the most brutal and inhuman
methods known to man, such as
wholesale arrests and deporta-
tions, forced famines, mass kill-
ings, and the crime genocide
against entire nations."
To The President
"Because
of the foregoing
findings,
based on testimony
sworn to before the committee,
we conclude," the Committee
said, "that peaceful coexistance
is a Communist myth which can
be attained only through the
complete surrender of our free
way of life for one of slavery
under Moscow - controlled com-
munism." The following recom-
mendations were addressed to
Congress and the President:
"That the President of the
United States take the initiative
in convening an international
conference of all free non-Com-
munist nations for the following
purposes:
"(a) To express formal recog-
nition of the fact that the Com-
munist governments, which now
control over 800 million human
beings, are not representative of
the will of the people.
"(b) To seek agreement where-
by the free non-Communist na-
tions acting in concert will with-
draw diplomatic recognition
from all Moscow-controlled Com-
munist governments.
"(c) To reaffirm the friendship
and solidarity of the people of
the free world with the people
and nations enslaved by commu-
nism.
"(d) To develop a program for
the rapid and complete termina-
tion of all commercial treaties
and trade with Communist gov-
ernments and the initiation of a
program of trade among all non-
Communist nations which will
strengthen the security of the
free world.
"(e) To develop an overall, dy-
namic program for the defeat of
the international Communist
conspiracy.
"That peaceful coexistence be
clearly, identified as a Commu-
nistic myth. It should be rejected
on the grounds that it is impos-
sible for a civilization based on a
belief in Almighty God, to co-
exist with an aggressive criminal
conspiracy dedicated to the de-
struction of civilization and to
the enslavement of all mankind."
The Committee issuing these
powerful recommendations is
made up of calm, deliberative
Congressmen of both parties.
Their findings and recommenda-
tions deserve serious considera-
tion.

Event Details
The Congressional Committee on Communist Aggression, composed of five Republicans and four Democrats, conducted hearings in London, Munich, and Berlin with 112 witnesses including exiled leaders and officials from Iron Curtain countries. Based on testimony, the committee published findings labeling Communism as ruthless tyranny and international conspiracy, and recommended to President Eisenhower convening a conference of free nations to recognize Communist regimes as unrepresentative, withdraw diplomatic recognition, reaffirm solidarity with enslaved peoples, terminate trade with Communist governments, and develop a program for defeating the conspiracy.
