Full Text

Mountain City.

We learn from a gentleman at Mountain City that the prospects at that place never looked better than at present. He says the Independent mine is certainly the richest mine now on the coast. Sam Hendy's mine, the Pride of the West, is second to none. On Wednesday last, at the depth of 70 feet, the workmen struck an almost solid mass of silver. The Mountain City mine is located in the near vicinity of the Pride of the West, and the company will soon be taking out rich ore. The Argenta struck an 8-foot ledge a few days since in its lower tunnel. He asks, why the Independent don't publish the shipments of bullion from Cope, which he says have averaged at least $1250 per day the last two months. We answer to his question by asking him, "Why don't you see that your shipments are made known to us?" We shall be happy to publish them.
