Full Text

That our fond hopes had ne'er known a blight.
And over my heart came flashing
Bright visions of days that are o'er.
I was happy, till voices came whispering,
"Alas! those glad days are no more."
And I started, for oh! I'd forgotten
That a cloud had obscured hope's bright beam
That partings, and sadness, and sorrow
Had 'wakened my once happy dream
Though long years of parting have chilled me
And my heart has grown stately and cold.
I'll remember the voice that once thrilled me
For 'tis kind, and as dear as of old.
And oh! when we chance to meet, darling
Our token of welcome shall be
A kind word and loving smile, darling.
To show you're remembered by me.
