Full Text

Presidential Nomination.—Mr. Monroe for the Presidency, and Gov. Tompkins for the Vice-Presidency, are the candidates of the republican party. Whatever difference of opinion may have heretofore existed upon this important subject, it now behoves every republican, anxious for the political salvation of his party and his country, to lend his influence and exertions to the promotion of the success of these two distinguished candidates. Let every attempt to divide the party be "indignantly frowned" upon; and let Monroe and Tompkins hereafter be the watch words and rallying points of the republican phalanx. Thus, and thus alone, shall we triumph over the common adversary, and secure the continuance of those politics under which the liberty, the happiness, the resources and glory of the American people have prospered and elevated us to a proud station among the nations of the earth.
