To the Editor Democrat-Star:
DEAR SIR: In your issue of the 16th inst., I notice an article headed "To the Patrons of the Scranton Public School," and signed by J. C. Heidelberg and C. P. Bowman. The intent of said article seems to be to reflect discredit upon my character as a gentleman and teacher. Now I scorn to stoop so low as to say what might be said in derogation of the character of the two men whose names are signed to that article; but this much I do say, that the authors of the allegations contained therein, are base unmitigated liars, and I defy them to make good their assertions.
Yours, Respectfully,
E. J. MAXWELL
