Contractor Says He Is Waiting Word From Washington, D. C.
To Begin Construction
Announcement that J. W. Bailey Seattle contractor, had been awarded the contract for constructing a hospital and auxiliary buildings at the Colville Indian agency, has been made by the purchasing agent, Department of the Interior, Washington, D. C.
The bid was for $148,736. The Western Construction company, low bidder when the bids were opened late in December, was permitted to withdraw because of an error in its estimates.

Mr. Bailey was in Nespelem this week and revealed that his company is planning to start work as soon as he is informed by authorities at Washington, D. C., to proceed with construction.
The project includes a modern hospital, two doctors' houses and nurses' quarters. The exterior of the hospital will be of reinforced concrete and the houses and nurses' quarters will be of ordinary construction with masonry walls.
Roofs will be sloping and will be covered with asbestos shingles and clay tile. All the buildings will be heated by hot water from high pressure steam boilers.
