It appears that the Spanish fleet, consisting of 12 sail of the line, and about 9000 troops, that were at Cape-Francois, as soon as they heard of the defeat of the Count de Grasse, made the best of their way to the Havana; and it is said they were seen in the Old Straights by some privateers that lately put into Providence from a cruise.
The cutter Two Friends, from St. Croix for Baltimore, prize to the Centurion, left St. Croix the 24th of April; and it was there supposed that the French fleet, after the action of the 12th of the same month, shaped their course along the south side of Hispaniola, and Admiral Rodney went down the north side of the same island.
