Full Text

West Point. An investigation is now going on, as we hear, at West Point, into the moral condition and discipline of the Military Academy. Certain insinuations and charges having been made by one of the individuals of the academic staff, the Secretary of War directed Major Gen. Scott, Adj. Gen. Jones, Col. Cross, and Capt. De Hart, to proceed to the Point, and investigate the whole matter. Those officers are now engaged in their duty, of which the result will, we presume, when known, be communicated officially to Congress.

We have the greatest confidence that this result will be honorable to the Academy: and certainly we desire ardently that it may be so, for we look upon the Academy as one of the most valuable institutions in the land.—N. Y. American.
