Discharged Workmen Attempted to Set Fire to Building.
Ansonia, Oct 27.—A vain attempt to retaliate for being discharged from the employ of the New York, New Haven & Hartford railroad was perpetrated last night. Some Italians made an effort to burn a large shanty situated between this city and Seymour at 11 o'clock. One corner of the building was saturated with kerosene oil and this was a mass of flames when discovered. Several men who were on the inside rushed out and fired several shots after the miscreants, but they made good their escape.
