CAMPUS NOTES
By Walker M. French.

On next Monday night the university first team will play Fort Collins here. Last year we lost the game by a score of 21 to 19. Both schools have practically the same teams this year, but Wyoming is in so much better shape that she feels confident of victory. At any rate, the game should be an unusual one for fine basketball playing. This will be the first game of the season, and a large crowd is expected. Everybody go and boost for Wyoming! A. S. U. W. tickets are good.

The first assembly of the new calendar year was held Monday in the auditorium. All of the county agents and state extension leaders were present. The agents wore a dress uniform consisting of bib overalls and old coats, and all of them looked real "cute." Miss Rowland opened the assembly with a piano selection from Chopin. President Duniway delivered the address for the day, giving a review of the extension work over the state since 1913. Before the address he introduced all of the state leaders and county agents to the assembly. The students are glad to have met them, and extend them and all other visitors a hearty welcome. We're glad they're here.

The short course is on in full swing. All of the men who will take part are now in the city, the last delegation, consisting of Governor Kendrick and other state officials, having arrived this afternoon. Interesting lectures are being given at all periods of the day. Anybody may enroll in the course. The program for each day is always printed in this paper and posted in the hall of the Liberal Arts building.

An especially important meeting of the Y. W. C. A. will be held tonight at 7:30 in the study hall. Mrs. Bellis will speak on "A Rare Spirit - Forbes Robinson's Life and Letters to Friends." Aside from this, a leader from Colorado will present plans for the national jubilee, to be celebrated by all divisions of the Y. W. C. A. during the month of January. All women students are cordially invited.

The annual junior prom will be given Friday, January 14, in the university gymnasium.

The regular weekly meeting of the Agricultural club has been postponed to tomorrow, Thursday, evening, in honor of Governor Kendrick, Dr. French, Dr. Wyman and Dr. Groshon. The meeting will begin at 8 o'clock, and will be held in the lecture room of the Agricultural hall, and students, faculty, visitors and citizens of Laramie are invited.

Miss Eugenia Neer, who is visiting in Melbourne, Fla., writes that she saw Miss Hope Robinson, an old student of the University of Wyoming there, and had the pleasure of spending some time with her. Miss Neer will return to her work in the training school on the 21st.

Mrs. Marguerite Knopf Peryam formerly of the university, and her two small sons, Paul and David, are in Laramie, visiting with Miss Amy Abbot and Mrs. John Hill. They will be entertained Thursday at the ranch of Mrs. Frank Holliday.

The following dates and events are worth remembering:
January 28 - Close of the first semester.
January 31 - Registration day for second semester.
February 4 - Dr. Alma Webster Powell, who last year gave a free lecture on "Music Is a Human Need," will again lecture on the same subject in the university auditorium. The lecture, by her own desire, will be free. Dr. Powell is a wonderful singer and illustrates her lectures with songs taken from compositions of the greatest composers of the different countries. A large audience should be present to hear her.
February 25 - Annual A. S. U. W. play. This year is the 300th anniversary of Shakespeare, and for this reason a Shakespearean play will be given. "The Merchant of Venice" has been chosen, and will be staged at the Empress.
March 17 Mr. Banks, who last year lectured here on the "Excavation of Arabian Cities," will be here again. His illustrated address last year was particularly good, and everybody should attend.

-UW-

Mr. Burton of the extension department will leave Saturday for Fort Atkinson to buy dairy cattle for some of the farmers of Platte and Goshen counties.

-UW-

Saturday night the university high school and the Laramie high school will meet in a basketball game on the university floor. This game should be exceptionally fast and interesting. A very close score is looked for. Both teams have this year been defeated by Wheatland high by a small margin, and those who saw both games will not prophesy as to who will be victorious next Saturday. A dance will follow the game. The admission for both is 35 cents.
