The following, which Governor Ritchie presented to the conference of governors at Old Orchard, Maine, in his speech assailing the "fifty-fifty" system of federal appropriations for state objects, shows the personal and corporate income taxes paid in each state in 1922, with the amount received by the state by way of federal aid and the percentage of income tax payments returned to each state as federal aid:
