Fatal Explosion Building Collapsed
AMMONIA EXPLODED. A FOUR STORY BUILDING FELL IN BURYING TWO PEOPLE AND INJURING OTHERS.

Whole of One Side Fell in—Fifty Girls Working Upstairs Thrown Into Panic—Fire Escapes Save Many. Aided By Fire Fighters.

Kansas City, Monday.—One person was killed and another is probably dead, buried under tons of debris, and seven others were injured, one fatally, here today by the collapse of a four-story building at Third and Delaware streets. The wrecked building was occupied by the Block Preserving Company. The collapse was caused by an explosion of ammonia on the fourth floor. One side of the structure. extending its whole length, fell in. There were fifty girls in the upper stories at the time, and panic prevailed among them. Many escaped down the rear fire escape. while others were rescued by firemen.
