WINDOW SASH INVENTION ENDS NEED OF PUTTY
W. W. Wilson, who operates a saw and planing mill just beyond the Hawkins farm, a short distance off the Ellaville road, 4 miles northwest of Americus, is in Washington, where he went to facilitate the securing of a patent upon a window sash which he has invented. A model of the invention was taken to Washington by him, a copy of which was shown about town today.
The invention consists of eliminating putty in fastening in the panes of glass. Instead of being inserted in the usual way from one side of the sash, the glass panes are slipped into place in a groove the proper size from the upper end of the sash. Strips of felt line the grooves, preventing rattling and filling the space so as to shut out the air and dust completely when the window is closed. Broken panes may be replaced with the greatest of ease, and there will be no more excuses from tenants who smash windows and then inform the landlord they have fallen out.
