Middlesex County Men Showing Class With Minor League Outfits
Reports from the camp of the Danville, Va., Piedmont League combination are to the effect that three Perth Amboy men and a player who performed here last season, have a real chance of starting the season with the team. Information from the Portsmouth, Va. team of the Virginia league. is that Mike Soo, local southpaw pitcher, may have the company of a South Amboy diamond tosser during the summer.
Ed "Blackie" Regan, veteran of two former Danville teams. is sure of a position with the Danville-Martinsville combination and probably will perform in the outfield. Aicer Jensen, southpaw hurler with former league experience, should be an important cog in the pitching staff of this team while Johnny Zanzalari and Harry MeEnroe, the latter of the 1922 Perth Amboys, are working hard for their respective positions. Zanzalari is an outfielder and McEnroe a third sacker.
Andy Kane of South Amboy went to Portsmouth with Soo. The great local southpaw hurler is the pitching ace of the Portsmouth outfit and expects a great season. Kane is one of four outfielders at the Portsmouth camp at this time and the Portsmouth manager expects to keep this number throughout the season.
It is understood that Rogers. South Amboy pitcher, has not left for the South to take up his duties with the Durham outfit in the Piedmont league.
Trying out for the Tampa nine in the Florida state league are Ted Forman of New Brunswick, shortstop of last season's Perth Amboys and "Buck" Stratton, South Amboy pitcher. The latter pitched last season for the Perth Amboy Dry Dock and South Amboy Y. M. C. A. nines.
Roselle Park Booking
The semi-pro team representing Roselle Park on the diamond would like to arrange games with teams in this vicinity. S. Pillottee, 106 First street, Elizabeth, is manager.
