"All glory to the Lord of hosts from whom all glories are!"
Fort Sumter is lost, but Freedom is saved. The great central idea of our government, "the majority shall rule," will be defended to the last, and the monarchists of King Cotton will find that the American nation has no king but He who ruleth on the throne of the heavens—that on earth the people represent his sovereignty. Our Declaration will be defended, and our fathers justified before the world. Thank God for the reawakening of the old spirit of '76. Our children shall not be slaves. No king, no despot, no oligarchy shall rule our beloved fatherland: and again we say "Thank God."
