Two letters signed "John Nicholas," addressed "to the people," which appeared in the Berkeley Intelligencer (a Virginia paper) of the 15th instant, together with sundry certificates, exhibiting "the proofs and principles on which the writer's fears for the present alarming situation of our country rest," are, we understand, the production of a gentleman of that name, who unsuccessfully opposed the re-election of Mr. Campbell, and not of John Nicholas, who was lately re-elected to Congress from the Fredericksburg district, as has been reported in the city a few days past.
