Rome, Aug. 8. We daily receive fresh and most dismal Accounts of the Damage occasioned by the late Earthquake in the Ecclesiastical State: Two Thirds of the City of Gualdo are destroyed, including the Prioral Palace, the Secretary's Office, the Chamber of Archives, four Convents and the publick Schools; and a great Number of Persons have perished. —We are under dreadful Apprehensions of the same Kind: In the Mountains of Umbria a prodigious Noise is heard, accompanied sometimes with Claps like those occasioned by the Discharge of Cannon.
