What is this article about?
An editorial from the Democratic Press argues that the opposition to the current U.S. administration should be called the 'New Tory Party' due to their alignment with British interests, opposition to American manufactures and internal improvements, resistance to supporting South American republics, and prioritization of elevating a single man over democratic principles.

THE NEW TORY PARTY.
Some of our newspaper writers are desirous of finding appropriate names for the parties that have been formed, in support of, and in opposition to the present Administration of the General Government. Now though we should be sorry to part with the good old fashioned names of the Democratic and Federal parties, yet if a new nomenclature must be used, we recommend to the opposition to assume the name of the Tory Party, to which we think they are most justly entitled, for the following reasons.
I. They have determined to take part with the British government in opposition to their own, on the question of the Colonial intercourse. So did the tories of old, on all questions between us and England.
II. They have announced themselves as opposed to American Manufactures, and Internal Improvement, by the general government; and did all they could, at the last session, to defeat the measures proposed for these purposes. This was the policy of the Tories of old.
III. They are, opposed to favoring the republicans of South America by sending a Minister to meet them. This is the policy of the Tories and of the Holy Alliance.
IV. they are for sacrificing all questions of principle which have been the standard of the democratic party in order to procure the elevation of a single man, at whose footstool they want the people to prostrate themselves. This is the true doctrine of Toryism.
Many more reasons might be given, which we reserve for another paper.
