HEARING GIVEN CAPT. CLINTON SMITH OF TORTUGAS PASSENGER LINES
Captain Clinton Smith, of the Tortugas passenger lines, arrested Friday on complaint of Harbormaster Frank Papy for not paying a fee, was given a hearing today before peace justice of the first district, Franklin Arenberg, with the case to be continued until authority of Papy is investigated.
Papy, two years ago, on appointment as harbormaster taxed visiting yachts but later decided to abolish the practice as a concession to the visiting yachtsmen in an effort to make their stay here as inviting as possible.
Smith captains the "Talofa", passenger boat running between Key West and Fort Jefferson in the Tortugas group.
The Talofa is owned by the Sutton Lines, Inc. Owner C. B. Sutton was present at the hearing.
