in Pre-Christmas Activities
Roosevelt School pupils have a variety of activities in progress for the few weeks of school remaining before vacation and the holidays.
In the high school and elementary library a novel calendar has been devised for the month of December. A large box cut from cardboard and wrapped with holiday papers and ribbon has the month abbreviated with "Dec.". At another corner of the box a detachable date is affixed.
Another innovation this year is the Christmas window with crispy white curtains and black window frame established in one of the library windows. Here, teachers and students are invited to place various kinds of woodwork, embroidery, unusual Christmas gift suggestions and holiday decorations that can be made at home.
Later, this same window will be used for showing books which would make good Christmas gift suggestions.
Social studies class of Miss Gladys Boyington has been studying natural resources of the Upper Peninsula. They donated their display for the use of the Garden Club Monday night.
The 3 o'clock eighth grade English class will present an assembly Thursday to high and grade school children.
Students participating will be Donald Noonchester, Mehran Thomson, Claire Porter, Ronald Root, Jo Anne Thompson, Melvin
Salem, Sylvia Richardson, Thomas Wilcox, Paul Sutherland, Mary Ann Whan, Mary Lou Miller, Katherine Ratti, Marie Rogers, Marilyn Sturn, Arlene Snodgrass, Willoween McDougall, Dorothy Savage, James Rynearson, Barbara Warner, Betty Powers, Mary Stewart, James Smith, Raymond Oyer, Joan Watts and Peggy Yoder.
