FOR CONVENTION
One Thousand Delegates Are
In Celery City To Attend Meeting
Which Convenes at Noon. Fine
Form Will Be Progressive.
It Will Denounce Warnerism, Osborn
and Payne-Aldrich Tariff
Law.
KALAMAZOO, Mich., Oct. 7.--Kalamazoo has taken on a genuine political air today. Hundreds of delegates
to the Democratic state convention
which convenes at noon, arrived here
this morning, and the hotel lobbies
are buzzing with talk. The wiseacres
of the Democratic party have completed their line of attack on Warnerism, Cannonism, Aldrichism, Taftism,
Ballingerism and any other old ism
that happened to come into their
minds. They have outlined a progressive platform, which they say will
deal a whop to the Republicans
and sweep the Democratic candidates
into office this fall.
The state central committee shortly
after midnight said the platform
would denounce the Payne-Aldrich
tariff and rap Osborn for his connection with the previous administration and his alleged duplicity with the campaign of two years
ago. Great
emphasis will be laid on the so-called
misrule of the Warner administration.
With such a platform, backed by
the men selected to carry it into execution, Chairman Shields, of the
state committee, declared this morning that the Democratic party was
bound to win this fall, and his assertion is but the echo of every Democrat present at the convention. There
are close to 1,000 delegates.
