THE ELECTION

The election last Thursday was the most orderly one we ever witnessed. The contest for some of the offices, as will be seen from the returns, was very close, and of course the defeated ones and their immediate friends are a little chagrined at the result. But this should not be so. The candidates should dismiss all feeling of animosity toward each other, and be like brothers. Below we give the aggregate vote for the different candidates, promising to give the votes by districts (in tabular form) in our next:
