For the Morning Star.
The January term of the Sebec Q. M. was holden at Sebec. It is not a time of general reformation with us, but some of our churches are enjoying revivals, and the Lord, we trust, is adding to their numbers such as shall be saved.—There has been a precious work of grace in Brownville, and on the 14th day of December last, twenty, who had recently been baptized, and four others, were organized as a church.—Elder Joseph Gowen, is a member of this church, and assisted in planting it. They were annexed to the Q. M. at this term. The business part of our meeting was rendered peculiarly interesting by the introduction of the missionary subject for the first time, which, with few exceptions, was favorably received. Several brief addresses were delivered, apparently with much feeling and such active and systematic measures were adopted, with respect to Home and Foreign missions, as promise considerable success. And very truly there seemed to be a "waking up" among the brethren. At this session of the Q. M. our hearts were much refreshed by the presence of visiting brethren and especially Elders Wormwood and Pratt, from the Exeter Q. M. and Elder A. Litchfield from the Bowdoin Q. M. They severally preached with us in demonstration of the spirit and power, and while the saints were encouraged and comforted, we could but hope that sinners would be won to Christ. In the conference, it was voted that our churches be requested to report their standing by their messengers and by written communications from their Clerks. Elders Hathaway and Turner were appointed to travel in this Q. M. the ensuing year. Elder A. Coombs was chosen to visit and preach with the churches in Lee and Springfield. And Eld. Samuel Wormwood, the churches in Hodgdon and Brighton, N. B. The March term of this Q. M. is appointed to be holden with the church in Milo. Conference Friday preceding, at 1 o'clock, P. M.
M. GILMAN, Clerk.
