The following is an extract of a letter received this morning.
"ROCHESTER, Monday even'g. June 2d.
I hasten to inform you of the result of our City Election. The votes are canvassed sufficiently to say that we have carried all the Wards by handsome majorities, in the aggregate of more than 230. The Tories have not elected a single officer. It is what we here call doing the thing up snug!"
A subsequent account gives us details as follows:-
Aggregate Whig majority of 241
Last spring the tory party carried three Wards out of five—now, not one so poor as to do reverence.
The Daily Democrat exclaims in triumph, "ROCHESTER IS FREE! Not a visible vestige of Toryism remains, Let the Whigs elsewhere take courage from our example."
