A large number of the store clerks working in the stores on Olneyville Square held a meeting in Library Hall on Wednesday evening and took the preliminary steps in the matter of organizing. There was a goodly number of the lady clerks present and much enthusiasm was shown. While considerable time was given to discussing the Monday night closing and Thursday afternoons off during June, July and August, one of the active workers said that organization was the main thing in order. "Most of the storekeepers are willing to stop Monday nights and also to make the summer half-holiday effective during June as well as the other two months that we already enjoy. With an organization we could get the support of the other organized people and their wives here in Olneyville to make any store that did not fall in line see the error of their way. And, believe me, there is some thousand odd union textile and other workers here that could make themselves felt."
