PLEASED WITH ROOSEVELT.

His Order of Preference for Veterans Commended.

President Roosevelt recently issued an order that veterans of the civil war should be accorded preference in appointments and promotions in the Government service. The act has excited great satisfaction on the part of members of the G. A. R., U. V. U., U. V. L., and kindred organizations.

A committee from John A. Rawlins Post No. 1, of this city, called on the President yesterday and presented resolutions of approval of the order adopted at the last meeting of the post.
