An oil painting (above) of W. W. Trent, state superintendent of free schools by William Edouard Scott of Chicago, will be hung in the reception room of the state education department, I. J. K. Wells, state supervisor of Negro education announced this week.
Scott (left) did the character study of Trent while the former was visiting here in 1939 to lecture in the Negro division's high school motivational and inspirational program. The painter has won international recognition through his work which has been on exhibition in the United States and abroad. Among his works are portraits of former Governor Holt and others. He has also made sketches of West Virginia scenery.
