POSTPONE MORTGAGE SALES IN MINNESOTA

ST. PAUL, Minn., May 2.—(UP).—All farmers mortgage sales in Minnesota were postponed last night for from 30 to 60 days under orders from Governor Floyd B. Olson to all sheriffs and other county authorities.

Olson issued the order after receiving telephone and telegraph messages from sheriffs declaring that there probably would be violence if sales were attempted.

A moratorium declared by Olson on foreclosures expired Sunday. Relief measures passed by the state legislature do not become effective for 18 days after that date. Sheriffs reported that the objections were to holding sales during that 18-day period.
