Won the Big Prize.
The Calcott male party of Mt. Carmel
under the leadership of Mr. David Thomas,
a former resident of this town, were the
successful competitors for the grand prize of
$250 at the Shamokin eisteddfod on Saturday
for the best rendition of the male choruses,
"The Young Musicians" and "The Cru-
saders." Male parties from Wilkesbarre and
Taylorsville also competed, but were unable
to counteract the excellent singing of the
Calcotts. Shenandoah was represented in
the victorious party by Messrs. Harry and
John Reese, Robert Anderson and David
Jenkins. The Calcotts will hold an eisteddfod
in the near future and hope to see the Shen-
andoah people well represented at it.
