SKIPPER RUSTAD, FROM ALASKA, IN SHIP ACCIDENT

ASTORIA, Ore., July 25-Skipper Tom Rustad, who escaped with four crewmen from a fishing boat just before it sank, was unable today to explain why the new vessel foundered.

Coast Guard officials at Port Adams, Ore., said a patrol boat rescued the men yesterday afternoon about an hour and a half after Navy patrol planes spotted them in the water. The crew included Rustad and George Penne, Petersburg, Alaska.

The boat, the Melody, was carrying five tons of tuna.
