On Wednesday the 10th inst. was ordained to the pastoral charge of the first church in Kittery, the Rev. Jonas HEARTWELL.

The public solemnities of the day were opened in a comprehensive prayer, by the Rev. Dr. Haven, of this town.

The Rev. Mr. Rood, of Bridgwater, delivered an ingenious and sensible discourse from John 21:15.

The Rev. Mr. Lankton, of York, made the ordaining prayer.

The Rev. Mr. Lyman gave the charge.

The Rev. Mr. Litchfield, of Kittery, gave the right hand of Fellowship, and the Rev. Mr. Buckminster, of this town, made the concluding prayer.

A numerous assembly did themselves honor by a decency of behavior, that was very pleasing, and
