City Ticket.

A meeting was held at the courthouse last Thursday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, for the purpose of nominating a ticket for city officers. The meeting had been called for 2:30 by the Index, but as it was afterward discovered that the lateness of that hour would interfere with the prayer meetings which were being held, the time was changed to 1:30 o'clock, and as many as possible were notified of the change. Some who had not been notified came to the court house after the meeting was over.

At two o'clock D. J. Aber called the meeting to order, and Judge Stevens nominated T. A. McNeal for chairman. Mr. McNeal was unanimously elected. W. G. Musgrove was nominated and elected as secretary.

Rev. J. B. North moved that the chair appoint a committee of three to present a list of names to the meeting, to be voted upon. John Higgins amended by making the committee consist of five instead of three. The amendment was accepted, and the chair appointed J. B. North, John Higgins, B. F. Woodard, F. F. Mullen and D. J. Aber as said committee.

The committee retired for consultation, and in a short time reported as follows:

We, your committee on nominations, would respectfully report as follows:

For mayor—T. L. Lindley.
For councilmen—G. W. Stevens, A. M. Houchin, Allen Smith, John Runyan, Frank Chapin.
For police judge—O. C. Howe.

Report of the committee unanimously adopted.

(After the adjournment of the meeting it was learned that Frank Chapin would not accept, and the name of Judge H. H. Hardy was substituted by the proper authority.)

Mr. Mullen moved that the title of the ticket be the "Law and Order Ticket." Motion adopted.

G. M. Martin moved that a committee of three gentlemen and three ladies be appointed by the chair to look after the details of the election. The motion was adopted, and the chair appointed G. M. Martin, D. J. Aber, Judge Hardy, Mrs. North, Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Cain as said committee.

Dr. Burney moved to adjourn. Motion carried, and meeting adjourned.
