Full Text

Many impartial persons express their astonishment at the inconsistency of conduct so visible on the side of the opposition, and assert the following fact as an incontestable proof of it, viz. That although those Gentlemen have long complained that placemen and pensioners having seats in the House of Commons is an enormous grievance under which the constitution labours, yet have we not seen the opposition content themselves with simple complaint the last session, instead of endeavouring to remedy the grievance, by proposing the immediate disfranchisement of what they call the rotten boroughs. They likewise conjecture, from this behaviour of the sons of liberty, that it is equally the interest of both parties to keep clear of such an amendment, as it would considerably weaken the voice of both the Ministry and opposition, should such a wished for revolution in Parliament take place.
