HAVANA, Cuba, Aug. 21. (U.P.)-
Marauding rebel bands harassed federal outposts on several fronts today in the persistent but so far desultory revolution against the regime headed by President Gerardo Machado.
A second revolutionary expeditionary force landed on the northern coast of Cuba and attacked the city of Nuevitas, an important port and railroad center in Camaguey province. The rebel raid was successful, meager reports reached the disturbed capital indicated.
These dispatches, like all news from the provinces, lacked confirmation. A strict censorship prevails under martial law. The government sought to minimize fighting earlier in the week in the eastern area around Gibara.
A communique issued insisted that only 43 rebels and three federals were killed in the battle of Gibara, where the first expeditionary force of insurgent reinforcements landed. Earlier reports had placed the dead at 600 men on both sides.
