Full Text

From the Richmond Whig, April 9.

Yesterday in the house of delegates a resolution was passed for proceeding, on Monday, by joint vote with the senate, to the election of the judges of the court of appeals. We understood the senate concurred.

The bill for referring the claims of Gen. Thomas Nelson to the treasurer and first and second auditor, after an eloquent argument pro and con, was passed—ayes 78, noes 58. We humbly conceive that this step towards rendering to his representatives some, tho' a late remuneration, for the splendid sacrifices and Roman devotion of Gov. Nelson, will be warmly approved by the bulk of Virginia.

The judiciary bill was taken up, but again laid on the table, to give sufficient time for understanding it as modified by the senate. Its consideration will no doubt be resumed to-day.

The senate have receded from their amendment to the election law proposing to hold the elections this year in June, so that they will be held in Aug.
