Full Text

There is a seaman now in town who was thrown overboard by the Haytians. He states, that he sailed from New York in October last, in a vessel with a Patriot privateering commission, and that they had taken several prizes, which were sent into Port-au-Prince, but they were robbed of the whole proceeds by Petion.—They afterwards captured a Haytian schooner, and a Mr. Johnson as prize master, and three men, of whom our informant was one, were put on board her, but as soon as the privateer was out of sight the Haytians overpowered them and threw them all overboard. They succeeded in reaching the shore, were carried to Port-au-Prince and examined before a magistrate. Johnson was put in prison, and the others set at liberty—one of whom arrived a few days since at Castine, and is now in town.
