Full Text

Last Friday, as one Mr. Haywood, an attorney, was coming to town from Huntingdon, he was stopped at Cheshunt Wash by two footpads; one held a pistol to the servant's head, while the other went up to Mr. Haywood, and demanded his money. Mr. Haywood asked him, how he dare stop a lawyer? The fellow replied, it gave him pleasure to do that: For do not you rob your clients? And therefore it is only one thief robs another. But, says the footpad, this is not a time to talk; your money immediately, or the contents of this pistol, which will spoil you for a lawyer; and robbed him of nine guineas, and his servant of two guineas, and then bid them ride on.
