FIRE.

On Saturday evening last, about 10 o'clock, the Dwelling House and Store, owned and recently occupied by Capt. Oliver Harrington, in New Worcester, about two miles from this village, were discovered to be on fire.

It had made such progress, that nothing was saved of the main part of the building, except the window blinds and a few doors.

Notwithstanding the extreme severity of the cold, the engine companies and citizens of this village repaired to the spot with great promptness, and were enabled to save a small projection back from the main building, together with the out-buildings.

The furniture in the house, and the goods in the store, had been removed to South Leicester on the morning previous to the fire.

It is not known how the fire originated.

The building was insured by the Mutual Fire Insurance Company.
