March 11. It is much feared by the friends of Mr. Pitt and Mr. Fox, that a cordial union is impracticable, as no two tempers are more violently contrasted in every point of view. Mr. Fox is manly, Mr. Pitt reserved; Mr. Fox has dignity, Mr. Pitt caution: Mr. Fox is liberal, Mr. Pitt prudent: Mr. Fox would save the empire by the application of such measures as its exigencies require; Mr. Pitt, it is presumed, would attempt the same, but would do it by cold and careful systems, the effects of which are ever exceedingly precarious.
