Full Text

Disappointment!—It was a vile reflection on humanity to see the vast crowd of men, women and children that thronged our streets last Friday, who had come hither from all parts of the surrounding country, to behold the dying agonies of a fellow being. We are sincerely glad that they were disappointed in the anticipated gratification of their very laudable curiosity. Fortunately, however, two young Cubs were paraded through the streets by a saffron colored gentleman, and the mob that followed seemed amply compensated by their novel and beautiful appearance, for the previous disappointment! No one who was here at the close of last week could doubt the pernicious tendency of public executions.
