It has been reported that Lieutenant-General Sir Jeffrey Amherst, Colonel of the 22d Regiment of Foot, would be appointed Commander in Chief of his Majesty's Forces in America, and Governor of this Province; it has also been reported that Lieutenant-General Studholme Hodgson, Colonel of the 4th Regiment, will be appointed to the said Command and to the Government; while others report that his Excellency Thomas Pownall, Esq; formerly Governor of this Province, will again be appointed to this Government ; but we do not learn whether there is any Foundation for any of these Reports.
