CHARLOTTE Miss Maggie Hunter of the Winston-Salem Journal has won the news and feature divisions of the North Carolina Press Women's Association's annual writing competition.
She and other winners were given awards at the association's meeting here yesterday.
Miss Frances Green of the Winston-Salem Sentinel was first in the column division. Mrs. Bernadette Hoyle of Smithfield won in layout award and Ms. Bonnie Engle of the Winston-Salem Sentinel wrote the best interview.
The main speakers at the meeting were: Mrs. Edith Evans of New York, editor of Living for Young Homemakers magazine, and Miss Charlotte Bachmann of the National Federation of Press Women.
