NEW YORK. Nov. 6.- With more than 30,000 members reported enrolled since Oct. 1, NAACP branches throughout the country are continuing vigorous campaigns to reach the goal of 100,000 in the year-end renewal and membership drive, Miss Lucille Black, the Association's membership secretary, said today.
Among branches which have exceeded their original goals and are continuing to enroll members are Cleveland with a goal of 12,500; Camden, N.J., 2,000; and Richmond, Calif., 600. Southern campaigns in progress include New Orleans, Houston, Miami, Tampa, Chattanooga, and Winston-Salem, N.C.
In New York City, District 65 of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, AFL-CIO, conducted a campaign among its members and recruited 500 for the NAACP. The union presented a check in the amount of $1,382.
