A CITY GUARD.

Several of the military companies organized during the late disturbance have determined to make their organization permanent, and offer their services as a city guard. They will meet regularly for drill, and will put themselves in a shape to furnish the city with a military force in a few hours' notice in case of emergency.

Several ex-military leaders of the late war are now endeavoring to organize a company of cavalry, so as to furnish the "city guard" with this arm of the service. The city has a battery of Gatling guns, and, with men to handle these, will be prepared to deal summarily with mobs hereafter.
