The aid-de-camp of the Russian Prince Wolkonsky, who has returned to Laybach from Constantinople, has brought horrible details of the massacre of the Greeks in the Ottoman empire. The number murdered is estimated to be 40,000.
Late intelligence from Turkey stated, that the vanguard of the army of Prince Ypsilanti, the Greek commander in Chief of the Insurgents was at Adrianople, a distance of about 30 leagues from Constantinople. The troops of the Grand Seignior had been defeated and dispersed—and three Turkish frigates were in readiness, in the Bosphorus, to take the Grand Seignior, his riches, wives, and concubines, said to amount to 800, to his dominions in Asia.
