We forgot to mention in our last number the arrival of the honorable WILLIAM M'GILLIVRAY, at Fort William, with the first brigade of Northwest canoes, where he found only four or five men, whom he took into custody, and ordered to be sent to Sandwich for trial. Lord Selkirk left Fort William, it is said, about the beginning of May, to go to the Red River. The commissioners were at Sault Ste. Marie, preparing to pass over lake Superior. It is gratifying to observe that the differences between the two companies will in all likelihood be settled in a peaceable and lawful manner, without any recurrence to violence.
